Comercial Marítima Oceânica is a
private owned company, 100%
Brazilian, founded in 1963.
Originally established as a
ship-broker house, Oceânica has
expanded its activities becoming a
Brazilian Shipping Company,
operating coastwise at South America
and Overseas.
Throughout its evolution, Oceânica
has always attached its traditional
values to talented professionals.
This integration has been identified
as the cornerstone that sustained
our participation in the maritime
transport market in Brazil and
Worldwide.
More recently, Oceânica has
completely redefined its commercial
strategy to undertake new ventures,
driven by the booming growth of
Brazilian Economy under dry and
liquid cargoes operating ships.
Historical Information
· Founded in 1963 by Mr. Washington de Barros.
· 1963 to 1995 – Shipbroker for Petrobrás; on the fixtures of time charter and single voyages as well as several COAS, amoung with Kawasaky Steel, K. Line, Idemitsu Tankers, Pack and Khan, Tidewater Oil, Osco Shipping, Stolt Nielsen; and others. Including back haul cargoes such as iron ore of CVRD to Japan and Europe, mixing up crude oil and products, chemicals, and vegoils.
· 1991 – Purchase of Argos Navegação Brazilian Shipping Company. Time-Chartering of “Norvega” from Nowegian Gas Carriers.
· 1993 – Obtained government authorization to perform any transportation through Overseas Brazilian Coastwise and Mercosul.
· 1994 – Purchase of M/T Marçal as a bunker supply and chartered on bareboat the barge MAROLINA.
· 1997 – Legal and friendly separation between Argos and Oceânica .
· 1998 to 2002 – Chartered on semi time charter four bulkcarriers M/T 50.000 DWT from Lloyd Brasileiro operating grain at Mercosul from Argentina to Brazil. As well the carrier brazilian flag Viva América.
· 2004 – Chartered on Bareboat the brazilian Gas Tanker Tacosul.
· 2005 – Purchased the river barge Santa Luiza.
· 2008 – Chartered on Bareboat the brazilian M/T Vitória Aparecida.
